A Visit from Mathematics Expert of Twente University, The Netherlands

BOGOR (9/7) – Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences IPB received a visit from an expert mathematician Prof. Frits van Backum of Twente University The Netherlands. Overview of Prof. Frits van Beckum: Frits carried out his mathematics study in Nijmegen. He represented the Department of Applied Mathematics at Twente University from 1967 to 2004. Frits supervised many graduate and PhD students at the Department of Applied Mathematics and all engineering departments in various subjects. Frits is the program coordinator that is part of Multidisciplinary Design Commands which is also one of the leading programs that majored in Applied Mathematics provide for Twente. The study of Frits includes computational fluid dynamics, and in 1995 he received a PhD degree in wave calculations. From 1991 Frits with Brenny van Groesen was active in a collaborative project with universities in Indonesia, in the field of waves: water movement, tsunami; and also light waves: non-linear optics. Since 2004 he lives in Ede, close to his grandchildren.
